IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS

Our club will celebrate its 20^th anniversary on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Feather Sound Country Club (http://feathersoundcc.com/)  in Clearwater. It will be a classy affair in a golf country club setting near the St. Pete-Clearwater airport, with quality food and music by a four-member Croatian group named “Dalmati” from New York.

The cost will be $50 per person, $10 per person for club members that have paid their yearly dues. Dues ($25 per couple, $20 single) payable to the Croatian American Club of Florida, must be paid by September 1, 2011, to Tanja Altschaft, 3689 Imperial Ridge Pkwy. Palm Harbor, FL 34684. This lively event will start at 5 PM (cocktails) and probably end by 10 PM. We know that some of us need transportation to and from this site. Those of us that can, should offer rides and those that need a ride should inquire about it.

Croatian-American Club of Florida Fall Picnic 10.17.2010

The picnic at Turtle Beach, Sarasota was held on October 17, 2010. There were about 100 people at the picnic. The food was delicious, especially the roasted pigs. There was also a grand raffle with many great prizes. Below are a few pictures from the wonderful event.

The Summer Picnic (8.15.10) was a great success. The picnic was a celebration of the Assumption of Mary - Velika Gospa. A big thank you to everyone who was in attendance, especially to Mr. Zvonko and Mary Ann Grivicic and Mirjana Talanga for decorating the clubhouse and making delicious sarma. After Mr. Grivicic thanked everyone in attendance, Mrs. Ema Simicevic offered a moment of silence for the fallen soldiers, innocent civilians, and deceased loved ones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mrs. Simicevic then began the prayers in both English and Croatian. Below are a few pictures of the picnic.

The Fall Picnic was a great success, with about 50 people showing up. A big thank you to everyone who was in attendance, especially to Mr. Zvonko and Mary Ann Grivicic for decorating the clubhouse and making delicious beans (grah). After Mr. Grivicic thanked everyone in attendance, Mrs. Ema Simicevic offered a moment of silence for the fallen soldiers, innocent civilians, and deceased loved ones, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mrs. Simicevic then began the prayers in both English and Croatian. After the prayers, she introduced our guest speaker, National Federation of Croatian Americans Treasurer Mr. Zvonko M. Labas, who gave a brief introduction to the positive work he does for the Croatian community, which included being in the forefront in ensuring Croatia became part of NATO. Mr. Labas also met with Cardinal Puljic and with newly elected Alaska Senator Mark Begich. The NFCA published a "White Paper" on the visit of Cardinal Vinko Puljic, Archbishop of Sarajevo, to Washington. Dear friends, thank you to all who came to the December 31, 2008 New Years celebration. There were 50 people at the party. Our party is one that will surely be unforgettable and always a great memory. There was lots of music, provided by the always great Joe and Jure (Croatian songs) along with  professional musician Denny (popular dance music) and Franjo (popular rock songs). Along with music, dance, and young people, the atmosphere was even more lively. A rich raffle only added to the excitement. A big thank you to Mr. Marinko Mesic, Mr. Jure and Olga Vucemilovic, Mr. Zvonko and Mary Ann Grivicic and to all those who brought food and delicious deserts to the party.

Yet another memorable Croatian Friends party has passed. We are quickly preparing for the new year, which will be filled with picnics, parties, and cruises in the Tampa Bay area. You can view several pictures of the New Years party on this page, and many more in the photo gallery.

Croatian Friends of Florida is organizing a NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY. You are cordially invited to join your Croatian-American family, friends, and kids in celebrating the coming of the 2009 New Year.

Entertainment: Live music will be provided by the marvelous Accordionist Joe and Guitarist Jure, who will be performing Croatian music. Live entertainment will also be provided by the professional musician and singer “Denny” from Chicago. A teenage rock group will also be performing classical and rock music. There will be lots of dancing, singing, and music. Those who wish to cool off from all the dancing can jump into the clubhouse’s heated pool.

 

Raffle: There will be a rich raffle consisting of many great prizes; we would greatly appreciate it if you brought something for the raffle. A brand new 10 mega pixel digital camera will be the grand prize.

The Thanksgiving picnic (11.30.08) was held despite tornado warnings and unusually cold weather for Florida. However, the weather was not enough to stop the 35 of us from getting together and having a successful and enjoyable picnic.  We thank everyone who attended, especially our guest speaker, writer Katarina Tepesh. We also thank our accordion and pianist, who provided live music for us.  Additionally, everyone was very pleased with the "orehnjaca" pastries (Croatian Walnut Strudel) made by Olga Vucemilovic, who is undeniably the best in Florida when it comes to making these desserts.  A big thank you to everyone who brought food and dessert.

THE SPRING PICNIC - TRAVANJSKI PIKNIK

WAS HELD ON 04.13.2008

Despite cold weather, the atmosphere in the picnic was great. The event started with a moment of silence for all fallen Croatian defenders and brave American soldiers. U.S. War Veteran Mr. Zvonko Grivicich attended the picnic. The event consisted of delicious food and live Croatian music. Two popular Croatian tunes "Marjane, Marjane" and "Oj Ti Vilo Velebita" were sung throughout the day.  About 74 adults and 17 children showed up. We thank everyone for coming, especially the musicians. Unfortunately, our friends from Miami were unable to make it due to bad weather. A big thanks to all those who brought Croatian deserts.
