Filament winding PROCESS

The process uses a continuous length of Direct Single End Roving and results in a shell of materials with high Strength-to-weight ratio due to the high percentage of glass in the composite matrix. Fibre tows are passed through a resin bath before being wound onto a mandrel in a variety of orientations, controlled by the fibre feeding mechanism, and rate of rotation of the mandrel.

Vacuum Infusion PROCESS

The Vacuum Infusion Process (VIP) is a technique that uses vacuum pressure to drive resin into a laminate. Dry materials are laid into the mold and the vacuum is applied before resin is introduced. Once a complete vacuum is achieved, resin is literally sucked into the laminate via carefully placed tubing.

HAND LAY-UP PROCESS

Hand lay-up is a molding process where fiber reinforcements are placed by hand then wet with resin. The manual nature of this process allows for almost any reinforcing material to be considered, chopped strand or mat. Similarly, the resin and catalyst blend can be manipulated to allow for ideal processing conditions.

SMC PROCESS

Matched metal dies are mounted in a hydraulic molding press. The material charge placed in the mold, heated mold halves are closed, and up to 150 bar of pressure is applied. Cycle time ranges from one to five minutes depending on part size and thickness. Compression molded parts are characterized by net size and shape, two excellent finished surfaces and outstanding part-to-part repeatability. Trimming and finishing costs are minimal.

RTM PROCESS

Resin Transfer Moulding is a vacuum-assisted process. Reinforcement mat or woven roving is placed in the mold, which is then closed and clamped. Catalyzed, low-viscosity resin is pumped in under pressure, displacing the air and venting it at the edges, until the mold is filled. This process yields increased laminate compression, a high glass-to-resin ratio, and outstanding strength-to-weight characteristics.
