Bol – the champion of Croatian Tourism in 2009 and in 2010

Bol was crowned the Champion of Croatian tourism for two years in a row, in 2009 and in 2010 and Croatian Prime minister Jadranka Kosor presented officials of Bol municipality with the award "Tourism Flower-Quality for Croatia" as the overall winner of the tourist season twice, last year in Bol and this year in Rovinj, during the Croatian Tourism Days.

The Croatian Tourism Days is an event which is held every year at the end of the summer tourist season in Croatia. At this event awards are given to coastal and inland tourist destinations and companies and individuals working in the tourism sector.

This award is very important in the tourism world, it is considered to be a kind of touristic Oscar award, and Bol town and its people are very proud of it, since it has been awarded to them by the tourism professionals in Croatia, who are monitoring the quality of services, accommodation, environment and improvements done in the tourist destinations in Croatia every year.

Bol had 429.307 tourist overnights in 2010, which is an increase of 2% in comparison to last year's result. Austria remained Bol's top international tourism visitor with over 87.000 overnights, followed by Germany and Slovenia. Since Croatia wants to position itself on the international tourist market as an environmentally friendly destination and as one of the leading tourist countries in the Mediterranean, the Tourist Board of Bol predicts further growth of international tourist arrivals in 2011.

Summer holiday in Croatia

Advertised as ‘The Med as it used to be’, Croatia is still a relatively hidden gem on the tourist trail. History, culture and unspoiled natural beauties will make your stay in Croatia truly memorable.

One of the most popular and well-known destinations in Croatia is Dubrovnik. Travellers who approach Dubrovnik city will find an extraordinary sight: its walls a powerful image of man’s mastery of nature – the wild rock of the mountains behind, transformed into the sturdy walls. The Dubrovnik Riviera is the region surrounding the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dubrovnik. The city itself is packed with architectural gems and the medieval wall that encloses the historic Old Town is magnificent. Dubrovnik boasts of numerous high-end hotels, and if you want alternative quality accommodation, you should check out the new project called the Dubrovnik Quality Private Services. This offer will let you choose the services suitable to your taste and within your planned budget. They offer the possibility of arranging and booking accommodation and meals directly with the private apartments, villas and restaurant owners.

Another must-visit summer destination in Croatia is the island of Brac. It is the third largest island in Croatia, located just opposite Split, easy to reach by frequent ferry connections. Many travel agents advertise Brac as a sleepy haven of traditional villages, which boasts of one of the best beaches in the world – Zlatni rat in Bol. If you travel to Brac, you can experience the traditional way of Brac life, taste the culinary delights of the light Dalmatian cuisine, such as sheep and goat cheese, together with the healthy virgin olive oil and extraordinary red wine called ‘Plavac mali’, produced in Bol, on the southern side of the island. With a long tradition in tourism, Brac offers a variety of accommodation, from two to four star hotels or hotel apartments to private apartments, villas and rooms in family houses. The people on the island are friendly and well-known for their hospitality and high-quality services. Memories of past times will be awaken while walking down the narrow streets, listening to the sounds of the mandolin playing the Dalmatian traditional songs.

Zlatni rat on the list of the most beautiful places in the world

We found some truly unusual sights on the list, such as the Great Blue Hole in the Bahamas, Ice Hotel in Sweden, an underwater restaurant in the Maldives, Cappadocia in Turkey and of course the beach
zlatni rat.
This beach on the island Brač has been described as one of the most beautiful beaches and LA Times has not doubted to include this beach on the list of the most beautiful and most unusual places in the world. LA Times says:"For those who think that all beaches are equal (water, sand, waves), they should think again.Welcome to Zlatni rat, a spectacular beach on the Croatian coast."
Zlatni rat deserves to be on this list, not only because of the beauty that it posesses, but also because of the possibility to change shape. Due to the influence of wind and waves, Zlatni rat can change shape by turning its tip in the direction of the wind.
