Croatia's capital has become particularly recognizable over the last years in traditional pre-Christmas events. Advent in Zagreb is held on several locations in the centre of the capital and encompasses a number of cultural and entertainment events.

On the main Zagreb square, Ban Jelačić Square, Advent begins with the lightning of the first Advent Candle. At the same location there is a large Christmas tree as well as a Christmas fair where dozens of exhibitors present their products. There is also a great stage from which to the end of Advent, in January, tens of thousands of domestic and foreign guests will be entertained by famous musicians.

At Kaptol, in front of the Zagreb cathedral, young women and men from the Cenacolo community traditionally year after year prepare nativity play, and the special spirit of Christmas can be felt in the Upper Town. Advent in the Klovićevi Dvori Gallery and Advent on Stross provide exceptional entertainment and unforgettable memories through a whole series of concerts and a unique gastronomic offer.

Colourful Christmas lights and ornaments along the Funicular stretch down to the Lower Town. There is a magically illuminated Tunnel Grič, which especially welcomes the youngest guests. They are also expected by a happy Christmas tram on the tramway.

The Flower Square, the European Square and the Zrinjevac also shine with the colours of Christmas, and especially the attractive location is the Ice Park on the Tomislav Square with its large skating ring where it is possible to attend a small skating school and even choose individual skating lessons.

Zagreb's streets attract more and more visitors every year in December. In only 30 days, the capital of Croatia is visited by more than 100,000 guests. The magic of Zagreb Advent is confirmed by the voters of the portal "European Best Destination", where Zagreb has been proclaimed the best European destination for Christmas holidays three years in a row.
