After several years of efforts by the organizers, in 2021 Croatia hosted an event of the famous WRC (World Rally Championship) for the first time. This made the dream of many fans come true, and the event itself attracted tens of thousands of spectators from the surrounding countries. Were it not for the strict epidemiological measures in force, there would surely have been more than 100,000 spectators.
WRC Croatia Rally 2021 was held in the vicinity of Zagreb on April 22-25, 2021. and the best drivers in the world showed their skills on the roads of Karlovac, Zagreb and Krapina-Zagorje counties.
This event represents the highest level of car racing, in the range of Formula 1 races, and is a really big event for the Republic of Croatia - not only in sports, but also in economic terms.
After a dramatic finale and a fight between Elfyn Evans and Sebastian Ogier, at the last special stage in Kumrovec Sebastian Ogier took the lead and won by just 0.6 seconds.
We hope that the world automotive federation FIA will recognize the efforts of the organizers and include Croatia in the coming years in the calendar of this prestigious competition.
